In 2022, the stat of Alabama had 7 federal Congressional districts. Terri Sewell was the only 1 black, female, Democratic member of the House of Representative from Alabama. The other 6 districts were represented by Caucasian Republican men.
Alabama black population in 2023 was 25% black while only 14% (1 out 7) members in the House of Representatives were black.Procedural History
