I like the site. I am a law student and thought something like this would be helpful. How long has it been around? It doesn't look like it has much content yet. Is there anything I can do to help? Juan

Thanks for coming by, Juan! To answer your questions, I created the site around October 2006 during my final semester of law school. Being too busy with school, I was not able to really add much content until the new year. I am pretty busy in my job now but I try to spend at least some time each week on outlines, and as I am currently preparing to take the patent bar, I have only been working on our Wiki Law School:MPEP Outline lately.

You are correct that there is not much to be seen yet, but I think it has great potential. Here are some things you can do:

• Register and create your username
  • Click the "create account" link in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. It's free, it lets you set your user preferences and create watch lists, and lets us attribute your work to you.
• Create a new outline
  • If there is a legal topic that does not have an outline yet, please feel free to create one (be sure to search for alternate titles to not create an outline that duplicates an already-existent one).
    • See Help:Starting a new page for more information.
    • See Help:Searching for more information.
    • See Wiki Law School:Manual of Style for more information on topics such as how to title a new article to remain consistent with our overall scheme and a few general guidelines on formatting.
  • Once you are at the editing page for your new outline, you can cut and paste an outline you already have (only if you own the copyright to it please) or just start typing your outline.
    • For example, on the Patent Law outline I created, I simply cut and pasted my class notes and started the process of cleaning and formatting it.
• Edit an existing outline
  • Use the search function to find an outline that interests you. Click the "edit" tab at the top of the page, and add things, fix inaccuracies, correct typos, or just improve the formatting.

• Add case briefs
  • We only have a few case briefs at the moment, so if you have any briefs that you made for class, just create a new page and cut and paste.
    • See Wiki Law School:Manual of Style for naming conventions.
• Clean up Law School articles
  • We have about 150 articles on each law school which I transferred from Wikipedia. I envision that we can tailor these articles to be very helpful to law students. These articles first need to be cleaned up and then we can add to them.
• Invite others to join
  • This web site will become much more helpful as more people join in. Please tell your fellow students about it and invite them to participate with us.

I hope you don't feel intimidated by the amount of work represented by my list. The principle of a wiki is that if a lot of people contribute even a little bit to the wiki, the cumulative result should be a lot of progress and a good outline.
