History[edit | edit source]

Norton Rose Fulbright is one of the oldest operating law firms in the United Kingdom.[4] Founded by Sir Philip Rose and Henry Elland Norton, Baxter, Rose & Norton opened its office on Victoria Street and expanded as a result of its banking and finance practice.[5] The firm counted London and Brighton Railway[6] and Great Northern Railway[7] among its client listing.

Baxter, Rose & Norton also specialized in election agency.[8] The firm administered the business of the Conservative Party and went on to advise dozens of Members of Parliament, including Benjamin Disraeli[9] and Sir Edward Colebrooke.[10]

  • 2013 – Norton Rose combined[11] with US law firm Fulbright & Jaworski, forming Norton Rose Fulbright.
  • 2014 – Norton Rose Fulbright was linked to a violation of human rights in Venezuela[12] stemming from influence peddling.[13][14]
