Iris Lan was a Lecturer-In-Law at Columbia Law School in the City of New York. She served in 2009 and from 2011 to 2013. Subjects taught by Professor Lan included Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, and Legal Writing. Professor Lan is a graduate of Harvard University, where she received her bachelor's, master's, and law degrees. After graduation, Professor Lan clerked for Judge William C. Bryson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and worked as a litigation associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP. Professor Lan first joined the U.S. Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, she prosecuted international terrorism, national security cyber intrusions, international narcotics trafficking, securities fraud, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations. She was also promoted to serve as Deputy Chief of the Appeals Unit, where she supervised the briefing and arguing of cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Professor Lan currently serves as an Associate Deputy Attorney General in the Office of the Deputy General at the U.S. Department of Justice. She is an Elected Member of the American Law Institute, where she also serves as an Adviser for the Principles of the Law, Compliance & Enforcement for Organizations. While at Columbia Law School, Lan taught as an Adjunct professor.
