It is the second oldest law school in Illinois. The School's name is a combination of two law schools which merged in 1900 to form present day Chicago-Kent: the Chicago College of Law and the Kent College of Law. The latter named for [[James Kent]], American jurist and legal scholar. Chicago-Kent was the nation’s first law school to make the computer a vital part of the study of law.
