The Nashville School of Law is a freestanding and independent law school located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1911, it operated as the Nashville Y.M.C.A. Night Law School until 1986, when it adopted its current name. Because classes are scheduled in the evenings and on weekends, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the school requires a minimum of four years. Its faculty members tend to be practicing lawyers and judges, including Justice Adolpho Birch of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Although not accredited by the American Bar Association, graduates may be admitted to practice in Tennessee as it is approved by the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners. Several members of the Tennessee judiciary received their legal training at the school. Indeed, the institution's current head, Dean Joe Loser, is an alumnus and served as a trial court judge in Nashville for two decades. == External links == * Nashville School of Law Homepage * Interview with Dean Loser in the Nashville City Paper lawschool-stub
